Osaka

Osaka is a fun, high-energy city to run—flat, approachable, and packed with scenery that shifts from historic landmarks to modern waterfront views. A classic route is along the rivers around Nakanoshima, where wide paths and bridges create a smooth rhythm through the city center. Osaka Castle is another must-run area, combining a powerful landmark backdrop with spacious park roads that work well for anything from an easy jog to a steady workout. If you want that unmistakable “Osaka” atmosphere, running near Dotonbori and Namba delivers neon lights and street-level excitement, while the bay area around Tempozan and the waterfront offers open skies and longer, more relaxed stretches. Whether you’re chasing sightseeing highlights or simply looking for a fast, flat run, Osaka delivers a mix of pace-friendly routes and vivid city character that feels distinctly different from Tokyo or Kyoto.

I'm a runner based in Osaka who loves running. My favorite route is along the Yodo River after sunset, and the longest distance I've run so far is 30km. Osaka has so many great spots to see, like Osaka Castle and Dotonbori, so I'd love to enjoy running through those places together. I'm looking forward to running with you here in Osaka!

Hi! I’m Shota, a runner and acupuncturist based in Osaka. I started running more seriously recently, and I’ve really come to enjoy it. I like running at a comfortable pace, exploring new places, and finding good routes around the city. I’m also a big fan of sports, especially football, and I used to play sports and practice Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I speak English and enjoy meeting people from different countries. I’ve traveled abroad on my own, and I know how fun it is to experience a city in a different way when you’re traveling. As an acupuncturist, I’m also interested in the body and how people move, so I enjoy talking about running, training, recovery, and staying healthy. I’d love to show you around Osaka while running together. Whether you’re a regular runner or just want to enjoy a relaxed morning run during your trip, let’s have a good run and explore the city!

I had the pleasure to have a morning run with Shota on a Thursday morning. I booked this run only 1 or 2 days before, so I was glad, Shota could made this happen. For me to get a glimpse of Osaka on a morning run. Shota was very kind and asked me about how I would like to run (pace wise) and we had a good chat during our run. He has good knowledge of his city. I can recommend a run with Shota. Thank you very much again!
