Hiroshima
Hiroshima is a city where running feels both scenic and meaningful, with wide rivers, elegant bridges, and a calm pace that makes sightseeing on foot especially natural. A signature route runs through Peace Memorial Park and along the Motoyasu River, passing the Atomic Bomb Dome and continuing on smooth riverside paths that showcase Hiroshima’s “city of water” character. From there, it’s easy to extend toward Hiroshima Castle for a classic landmark backdrop or loop through the greenery around Shukkeien Garden for a more tranquil, park-like feel.
Hiroshima also rewards longer, steadier runs because the terrain is generally flat and the river corridors create naturally flowing routes through the center. Finish with the city’s famous food culture—few places are better for a post-run meal than Hiroshima, where okonomiyaki is practically a recovery ritual.
